Mulch harvest and pond cleanup underway, diminishing cyanobacteria
The Solitude Lake Solutions harvesters are in the pond now, removing fully grown and flowering lily pad leaves and stems. Regrowth should follow, siphoning phosphorus and nitrogen from the pond’s surface waters. This should, in turn, help sustain our recent record depth of clarity.
In some areas, we are still seeing blue-green cyanobacteria dots so continue to exercise caution. When in doubt, stay out! Starved of phosphorus in the clear upper waters, these dots are diminishing in both size and density, but are not completely gone yet… We will keep you posted!
