Near record clarity, but speckled with a bloom that we are monitoring.

The blue-green cyanobacteria is still a problem in some areas open water.

The green dots float up from the bottom, packed with supply of phosphorus for a couple of weeks. That leaves us with crystal clear water (see data) but with green dots and the possibility of toxicity that might vary hour to hour.

When in doubt, stay out!

The good news is that due to our clean up work we’ve reduced algae-feeding phosphorus out of the upper waters. When the cyanobacteria’s supply of runs out, the bloom will subside and sink to the bottom.

Solitude Lake Solutions will return on Tuesday to help ensure that there is no excess phosphorus to feed the surface bloom. A second harvest will prevent the blooming lilypads from decaying, triggering regrowth that will soak up the plant food.. We will also be removing algal mats on the south side of the pond.
