Stirred, not shaken!

The remnants of hurricane Erin stirred things up a bit, but Shelter Island’s “window on the aquifer” is still clear. Bits of surface detritus and a bit of mixing is a small price to pay for the return of blue skies, fresh air, and warm summer conditions.

The Fresh Pond Neighbors will be at the Green Expo tomorrow from 11 to 3 pm at the school grounds. Come talk to us, ask questions, and share information!

We will be joined by the Menantic Creek Keepers Conservancy, another key non-profit working toward the health of our watershed. Approximately 75% of the water in Fresh Pond reaches Menantic Creek every 15 months or so. Cleaning up the pond will improve water quality in Menantic and the Dickerson Creek estuaries.
