Clear open water, but...

While the open water on Fresh Pond is beautiful and inviting, please stay away from the macro-algae (thick mats) in areas to either side to the public access at Fresh Pond.

There is an open direct channel into the clear water. Avoid contact with the mats which can cause skin irritation. Do not let pets or children swim into these areas as ingestion can potentially be harmful.

We look forward to our July 2026 short-term cleanup which will target these areas.

Update: June 14th sampling and clarity readings at Fresh Pond this weekend show limited visibility (1.4 meters) with a greenish cast.
