Monday blues. Sightings of blue/green algae.
With the lily pads back in flower and the second cleanup still 10 days away we have spotted our first distinctive cyanobacteriain (bright geen dots) in open water. So far the blooms have been observed in the north side of the pond, but they are likely to be seen in open water in general as the water flows south.
Blue/green cyanobacteria can at times be harmful, so please avoid contact while these dots persist in the visible water column. Conditions can change rapidly, and the next harvest and regrowth may also serve to siphon off the phosporous these bacteria feed on.
We will keep you posted!
